Between 1940 and 1960, the intersection of European modern art, design and architecture movements in Latin American countries, such as Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Venezuela, led to the emergence of different groups in these disciplines.
Their members, who would participate in numerous exhibitions and publications at the time, are considered pioneers in these fields. However, most of the information available today is regarding male contributors. Invisibles is a bilingual publication and online platform that aims to collect information about designers, artists and architects across Latin American countries that were unrepresented during this time. The word Invisible is written and means the same in both languages, English and Spanish: ‘Something that cannot be seen but has a definite effect’. |
